Data refill Terms and Conditions

Data refill Service

Vodacom reserves the right to expand on and/or amend these terms and conditions and where such change is material, Vodacom shall provide you with reasonable prior written notice prior to any such change taking effect

1. The Data Refill service will be available to all Prepaid, Hybrid and Post-paid Vodacom customers.

Data Refill for Prepaid and Hybrid customers

1. The following Once-Off Mobile Internet Data refill bundle will be available via the Data refill service:

2. The Data refill bundles will be valid for 3 days including the day of purchase, up to 23:59.

3. All unused data at the time of expiry will be forfeited, unless a customer uses the Data Rollover service to extend the bundle’s validity. 

4. Once a customer that is opted into the Data refill service depletes all the active anytime data in their account, the Data refill data bundle will be allocated into the customer’s account.

5. The number of times that a Data refill will be made on a customer’s account in any given month will be dependent on when the customers deplete their recharge balance.

6. If a customer does not have enough funds for the next automatically allocated bundle, the applicable out of bundle rate will be R0.30/MB for Prepaid customers.

7. The Data refill service will only be available to Prepaid customers

8. Customers can opt in or opt out the Data refill service using the following channels:

USSD (*135*6#)

9. There is no limit to the number of times customers can opt in or out of the service.

10. Should the customer choose to opt-out of the service, the applicable out of bundle rate will be R0.99/MB.

11. No talking points will be earned in the allocation of the Data refill bundles.

12. Customers who are opted in to the Data refill service will still be able to purchase data bundles per respective payment type at any point.

13. Customers that are already opted into the Vodacom Smart Recommendations service will be able to opt into the Data refill service.

14. Customers that are opted into the Data refill service but not opted into to the Vodacom Smart Recommendations service will be required to opt out of the Data refill service before being able to opt into the Smart Recommendations service.

15. The Data refill service is not applicable to Data Roaming.

16. The Data refill data bundles will be for once-off use and will only re-allocate when customer depletes all active anytime data in their account.

17. When a Prepaid customer that has a Data refill bundle migrates to a Hybrid/Post-paid plan, the Data refill bundle will be forfeited.

18. When a Prepaid/Hybrid customer that has a Data Refill bundle migrates to another Prepaid plan, they will retain their Data Refill bundle. Vodacom may amend these Terms and Conditions by giving customers reasonable notice of any such amendment.

19. Vodacom reserves the right to suspend the service in the event of suspected abuse where non-compliant devices (as specified by the regulating body, ICASA) are being used on the Vodacom network.

Data refill Specific Data Usage Notifications

20. Customers that are opted into the Data refill service will receive Data Refill specific data usage notifications. These data usage notifications will inform customers:

a. On each allocation of a new bundle

b. When a customer does not have enough funds for the next Data refill Bundle

21. While Vodacom makes every effort to ensure that customers receive the SMS notifications, it cannot be held liable for SMS not received/delayed. 

22. Customers who have opted in for both Data refill Bundle and Smart Recommendations will not be opted out of the Smart Recommendations service, and will continue to receive smart recommendations when they are in bundle.

23. Customers who have opted in for the Data refill Bundle service will not receive daily ticketing messages.

24. Upon opting in, the customer will be notified via SMS.

25. Upon opting out, the customer will be notified via SMS.

Data Refill for Post-paid customers

26. Customers can opt in or opt out the Post-paid Data Refill service using the following channels:

27. The following Once-Off Mobile Internet Data Refill bundles will be available for purchase via the Post-paid Data Refill service for Mobile Internet customers:

28. The following Once-Off Mobile Broadband Data Refill bundles will be available for purchase via the Data Refill service for Mobile Broadband customers:

29. Customers that are already opted into the Vodacom Smart Recommendations service will be able to opt into the Data Refill service.

30. Customers that opt into the Data Refill service but not opted into to the Vodacom Smart Recommendations service will be required to opt out of the Data Refill service before being able to opt into the Smart Recommendations service.

31. Customers that opt into the Data Refill service will not be charged for any out of bundle data usage

32. Once a customer that is opted into the Data Refill service finishes all the active anytime data in their account, the subscribed to Data Refill data bundle will be allocated into the customer’s account and the cost of the bundle added onto the customer’s monthly bill. 

33. Once an auto-purchase has been made into the subscribers account the customer will receive an SMS confirming the auto-purchase made

34. The number of times that a Data Refill will be made on a customer’s account in any given month will be dependent on when the customers reach their Credit Limit Lock or Call Limit Lock

35. In the event that a customer has reached their Voluntary Call Limit a data refill will no longer be made in the customer’s account up until the limit is increased or removed.

Please note that once a call limit is reached customers barred for all outgoing calls, SMS and data connections, except to emergency 112 and Vodacom customer care 111 for the remainder of the month. However, should the threshold be reached during a voice call or data download, the locking will only be implemented after that interaction is complete and customers remain liable for the charges incurred.

36. In the event that a customer has reached their Credit Limit a data Refill will no longer be made in the customer’s account up until the customer’s account is unlocked.

Please note that once a call limit is reached customers  barred for all outgoing calls, SMS and data connections, except  to emergency 112 and Vodacom customer care 111 for the remainder of the month. However, should the threshold be reached during a voice call or data download, the locking will only be implemented after that interaction is complete and customers remain liable for the charges incurred.

37. In the event that a customer has reached their Credit Limit Lock a data Refill will no longer be made in the customer’s account up until the lock or removed  

38. Customers can change the data bundle allocation for their Data Refill service once a day

39. The changed data bundle allocation will be applied to the customers Data Refill service immediately

40. Customers that are opted into Data Refill will still be able to purchase other data bundles

41. Customer can call Customer Care on 082 111 for information regarding the Data Refill service

42. The Data Refill service is not applicable to Data Roaming

43. Blackberry customers are excluded from the Data Refill service and as a result cannot opt into the Data Refill service

44. The Corporate Clients of which Vodacom has predefined purchase agreements will be excluded from the Data Refill service.

Data Refill Specific Data Usage Notifications

45. Customers that are opted into the Post-paid Data Refill service will receive Data Refill specific data usage notifications. These data usage notifications will inform customers of data remaining and reminders of the data bundle that will be auto-purchased into their account when all their anytime data is finished

46. Customers that are opted in to both the Smart Recommendations service and the Data Refill service will no longer receive data usage notifications that have personalised offers but will receive Data Refill specific data usage notifications

47. The Data Refill specific data usage notifications will be only applicable to anytime data bundles and not time based (Night Owl) or URL specific data bundles active in the customer’s account

48. Customer numbers that receive notifications on behalf of other numbers (alternative numbers) will not receive the Data Refill data usage notifications but will instead receive service data usage notifications

49. The channels in which customers will receive Data Refill specific data usage notifications are:

• SMS

Data Refill Bundles

50. The Data Refill data bundles will be for once-off use and will only re-allocate when customer depletes all active anytime data in their account

51. The Data Refill bundles will be valid for 30 days from and including the day of purchase. If the bundle is purchased on the 15th of the month, in a month that has 30 days, it is valid until the 14th day of the following month 1.e 15th April to 14th May. If a month has 31 days then the bundle will be valid up to and including the 13th day of the following calendar month i.e 15th July till 13th August. In the month of February, where the month has 28 days and the bundle is activated on the 15th of the month, the bundle will be valid up to and including the 16th of March. In the month of February where the year and a bundle is purchased on the 15th of month, the bundle will be valid up to and including the 15th of March. The bundle will expire on 23:59 on the day of expiry.

52. All unused data at the time of expiry will be forfeited

53. The Post-paid Data Refill bundles will not be applicable to transfer and roll over

54. A Data Refill bundle purchased on a Post-paid price plan will have the associated cost added to the monthly bill

55. All the prices of the Once-Off Vodacom Data Refill bundles include VAT

56. Customers will be charged for the volume of data sent and received, and not the time you spend connected.

57. Data transfer rates are not guaranteed and are dependent on network availability

58. The Vodacom Data Refill bundles do not apply to data roaming

59. Unlimited Data Refill bundles can be purchased

60. Customers that opt out of the Data Refill service should not be charged out of bundle data rates after the depletion of any remaining Data Refill bundle

61. In the Post-paid Order Of Consumption the Data Refill bundles will consumed last.

62. A Data Refill bundle will not be prorated. The full data allocations and associated cost respective bundle will be charged and allocated at the time of purchase

63. In the instance that a customer Opts Out of the Data Refill service while they have Data Refill data bundles active in their account, those remaining Data Refill bundles will remain active in the subscribers account until depletion or expiry

64. In the instance that a customer changes their Data Refill bundle allocation while they still have Data Refill data bundles active in their account, those remaining Data Refill bundles will remain active in the subscribers account until depletion or expiry

65. The Mobile Internet 100MB, 500MB and 1GB Data Refill data bundles are valid until 23:59 on the 30th day from and including the day of purchase

66. Night Owl Data does not get allocated to Data Refill data bundles.

67. When a Post-paid customer that has opted into the Data Refill data service migrates to a Prepaid plan, their Data Refill data service settings will no longer apply

68. When a Post-paid customer that has opted into the Data Refill data service migrates to a Top Up/uChoose plan, their Data Refill data service settings will be no longer apply

69. When a Post-paid customer that has opted into the Data Refill data service migrates to another Post-paid plan, their Data Refill data service settings will still be retained

70. When a Post-paid customer that has a Data Refill data bundle migrates to a Prepaid plan, the Data Refill data bundle will be forfeited

71. When a Post-paid customer that has a Data Refill data bundle migrates to a Top Up/uChoose plan, the Data Refill data bundle will be forfeited

72. When a Post-paid customer that is eligible for the service has a Data Refill data bundle migrates to another Post-paid plan, they will retain their Data Refill data bundle
